From Easter to Ascension in  Psalms 22 - 24

These three psalms in sequence have long been associated with Christian liturgy, treasured as prophetically anticipating the crucifixion, resurrection and

exaltation of Jesus.

During this study day, we will attempt to hear the message of these vivid, ancient songs in the context of their own day, and probe their resonance in the New Testament as bearing witness to the gospel.

Intruding on extreme grief this is a lament Psalm. It gives voice to a community or individual who is fighting for faith.

Two initial reflections:
The song is pastoral but not sentimental. This is a true song of hard-won trust. A song about proving God in harsh terrain.
